Although I've living in Tokyo for 5 or more years, but I hadn't visited to the Mt. Takao, the Tokyo people's best place to spent holidays and have fun.
That small mountain (Mt. Takao is 599 meters high) is at the west of Tokyo and there is 1300 years old shrine called Yaku-Oh-In. Almost of the mountain is covered by the deep forest. It's very beautiful place.
I got my first visit for Mt. Takao on this Golden Week, the Japanese vacation season. This means too many people would going to major leisure spot, and of course Mt. Takao was crowded. Cable cars and lift machines had a long line of waiting people, so I choose walking for down the mountain. It's a bit hard way for me the inactive man. I got a big muscle ache on foot and hip today.
Anyway, I enjoyed the wonderful view from peak and great walking through the deep forest of Japanese cedars.
